Robots walk among us—or at least, they do if you were at Stanford University’s Robot Block Party. An IDG News Service camera crew happened to be there, and here’s some highlights of what they saw.
In this video, you’ll meet the Homebrew Robotics Club, which meets the last Wednesday of each month at Google—”just a bunch of guys that like to build robots” is how club member Camp Peavy describes the group. It’s all fun and games now, but Peavy compares it to the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s: “This is really going to create professional robot applications.” The video also includes an appearance by the Nagaina robot snake, which was created using 3-D printing technology.
You’ll find other video-centric IDG News reports from the Robot Block Party elsewhere on TechHive, including the Thymio educational robot, a mind-controlled helicopter from Puzzlebox Productions, and the Turtlebox II, which also doubles as a robot butler.
