Herald is a robot that knows how to write [Herald Calligraphy]
Created by five undergraduates at the Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering, this is an automated pen that writes calligraphy better than you. Like, really. The machine in question has a three-axis control and a graphical user interface that allows you to manipulate exactly what comes out without having to, you know, do any amount of writing yourself. Even Tard the Grumpy Cat would have to smile at this. Lego builder Iain Heath recently created a likeness of the infamous feline in, well, Lego. It’s a surprisingly good replica of the grouchy, four-legged Internet phenomenon and one that needs no improvement. It’s just awesome that it exists, really. [via The Brothers Brick]
Coffee pot aquarium keeps fish…warm? [RobotsAndComputers]
I don’t know about you, but my first response to a broken coffee pot is to get it fixed or to buy a new one. However, if you’ve been looking for an excuse to get a new coffee machine and, by some chance, own some fish that require higher-than-normal temperatures, this project is for you. After giving his girlfriend a beta fish for Valentine’s Day, this project’s creator rigged up a cheap drip coffee maker to work as a heated fishbowl. [via Hack a Day]
