LG Electronics is going further than most in adding smart home features to a wide range of home electronics products. At the IFA show in Berlin, the company said all 2017 products will come with integrated Wi-Fi, and it was showing smart refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, and even lawn mowers.
What’s more, they support both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, giving customers more of a choice in the LG goods they buy or the smart home platform they choose.
Some of the functions are a little gimmicky. It’s fun to ask your refrigerator how cold it is, but probably not something you’ll do very often. On the other hand, being able to ask the clothes dryer how long is left on the cycle from any room in the house, or even setting it to start remotely from your phone, could prove to be really convenient.
