Dish Network’s Sling TV is getting into the Windows 10 spirit just in time for the NFL season's kickoff.

The popular live TV streaming service announced a new, immediately available Windows Store app for PCs and tablets. Fear not, non-Windows 10 types and Windows Store haters: Sling says it will continue to support its legacy desktop app.

The new Windows Store app supports a variety of Windows 10 features, including live tiles, and Cortana voice commands to find content. If you’re not currently a Sling user, the app allows you to sign-up for a new account, and take advantage of the service’s 7-day free trial.

The story behind the story: Sling says its new app will come to “additional Windows 10 devices in the coming months.” It’s not clear if that means it has plans to roll out a Windows 10 mobile version as well. That’s not impossible, as Sling already has an Xbox One app that is similar to the Windows 10 app. Of course, there’s also the possibility that Sling is more interested in the potential future of the Windows 10-based HoloLens than the pathetic state of Windows 10 Mobile.

Spreading its wings

The new Windows Store app is just the latest app addition from Sling. In June, the service landed on Apple TV when Sling also debuted its new “content-centric” interface.

Sling’s new Windows 10 app also comes just as the NFL season is kicking off. Sling announced in August that the NFL Network and NFL RedZone would be coming to the cord-cutting service in time for the new season. Those aren't included in the $20 per month base package, though. You'll need to subscribe to the $25 per month expanded "Sling Blue" plan and then select the "Sports Extra" package that costs an additional $10.
