Nikon just launched its new FT1 mount adapter that lets you attach any Nikon DSLR lens onto the Nikon 1 compact interchangeable-lens camera.
In addition to bringing more glass to the Nikon 1, J1, and the more professional V1 model, the FT1 adapter will retain most of the lens’s automated and electronic features. These include AF-S lenses' internal motors for autofocus, VR optical stabilization, and automated shooting modes such as full auto or aperture priority.
Of course, before you put any glass in front of the Nikon 1, you'll want to consider the camera’s 2.7x crop factor. The resulting magnification will turn a typical starter 18-55-mm kit lens into a 48-148-mm lens, or a 300-mm telephoto into an 810-mm lens. So it might be great for giving your camera a lot of optical reach, but not so much if you want to shoot wide and near.
The FT1 mount adapter is being sold in Japan for ¥19,814; meanwhile Nikon USA lists the mount for $269.97.
