All the recent talk about the new iPods serves as a reminder that the iPod has become the center of your digital media universe. And one of the ways to get the most from your iPod is to use an iPod speaker stand, so you can blast your room with your music.

But what if you want to blast your whole house with music? You can you a remote speaker system, like Intellitouch's Eos wireless iPod speakers. The Eos uses a proprietary 2.4 GHz wireless technology to stream audio from your iPod to a remote speaker in a separate room.

In this Macworld video, I take a first look at the Eos system. I'll set up the Eos, place a speaker in a separate room, and check to see if it works. I'll also talk (and overuse the word "pretty") about the sound quality.

I'm working on a full review of the Eos system, and hope to have it ready soon. In the meantime, you can visit the Eos product page for more information.

The Eos Core System, which is the product shown in the video, is US$250. It includes a base station and one remote speaker.

You can use up to four remote speakers with the base station. Additional speakers are available for $130 each.

Our iPod Product Guide is chock full o' speaker reviews. Last year, Griffin's Evolve wireless iPod speaker made our 2007 Plays of the Year.

In case you were wondering, I used a 20GB 3G iPod in the video. My iPod was playing mashups. And finally, you are an unfortunate witness to my attempt to do the wop.
