Geek Up Your Holiday With Lego Ornaments
Unlike most ornaments that you pick up from the store, you build these ones yourself. Chris McVeigh, an author, illustrator, and photographer based in Nova Scotia, posted extremely easy-to-read Lego ornament building guides, parts lists, and model files for Lego Digital Designer--a type of CAD program for Lego creations--for a number of geeky holiday ornaments.
Have you ever wanted to hang the Millennium Falcon from your Christmas tree? Now you can. Among the other ornament designs that McVeigh posted for this holiday season include a Death Star, a Christmas Tree, and Santa's sleigh. Some of them are standalone ornaments, while others can be strung from a tree.
There are a couple of ways that you can order parts for these Lego ornaments, but McVeigh says that the easiest would be to open up the model files on Lego Digital Designer (free) and then click buy, which will order all of the parts for you. If you're feeling particularly adventurous this holiday season, you can also modify McVeigh's designs or make your own in Lego Digital Designer. Alternatively, you can use McVeigh's parts lists to search and order parts from Lego's Pick a Brick, which might be a less expensive way to go.
