Copyright Grinch Pulls 'Friday' YouTube Video

You don't know what you've got until it's gone -- it rings true for YouTube video sensation Rebecca Black with her viral song Friday. The popular YouTube video, with more than 167 million views, is no longer available due to a copyright claim filed by none other than Rebecca Black.

Anyone who wants to listen to Black's contagious Friday song, coincidentally on a Friday, gets the message: "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black." The video has been reportedly down since late on Thursday, but there are little details over the reasoning behind the copyright claim.

Thirteen-year-old Rebecca Black and her video producers Ark Music Factory have been engaged in a copyright spat since the music video rose to Internet fame. TechDirt has a good summary of the saga, but in short, Black's family and the label are debating who owns the rights to the song that went viral.

Neither is YouTube is commenting on the Friday rights debate. The site just told TechCrunch "When we receive a complaint alleging that a video infringes another person or company's copyrights, we remove that video. Users who believe that a video was removed in error can appeal the copyright takedown."
