Steve Jobs 'Calling the Shots From Home'
Apple CEO Steve Jobs might be on sick leave but he is still participating in meetings and has even been spotted on the Cupertino campus in the past month, according to a report.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Jobs is very much involved in the strategic and product development decisions at Apple despite taking a medical leave of absence on 17 January for unspecified reasons.
The WSJ cites people "familiar with the matter" as saying that business at Apple is continuing in the same way that it has done during Jobs' other periods of absence. However, Jobs' continued involvement isn't a great surprise, given the content of the public announcement of Jobs' most recent period of medical leave.
When Jobs emailed all Apple employees on 17 January he clearly stated: "I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company."
However, Apple seems determined to keep its succession plans for Jobs - which it insists that it does have - strictly under wraps, despite a call from some shareholders for them to be revealed.
