Wireless Power Brings A Brighter Breakfast
Fulton Innovation had an idea: what the world needs is flashier breakfast (I completely agree). So they decided to pair their eCoupled technology wireless power technology with some cereal boxes to make them light up, and interact with a nearby computer to display useful information.
eCoupled is actually offering an entire kitchen experience, free of wires. There's a pan that heats up on an eCoupled-enabled counter, a blender that's powered by the same surface, and even a can of soup that cooks itself. All of these things link to a nearby display that shows all the information you need -- from the current temperature of the pan, to the time left to heat the can of soup sitting on the countertop.
Fulton Innovation even came up with a way to charge a Tesla electric car simply by parking it in a special parking spot. The rest is done wirelessly, making the charging aspect of owning an electric car a lot more carefree.
Wireless power like this sure seems like the way of the future, doing away with cables that take up space, get tangled up and forgotten, and that eventually end up in landfills. However this technology could only really take off if it's integrated directly into products, so you don't have to buy accessories to make wireless powering and charging work. I say bring it on -- I can't wait till I can my phone charges when I set it down on my desk, or till my laptop charges on the coffee table at Starbucks.
