The LifeTrak Move C300 hopes you're in the market for yet another activity tracker
Hey, is there any space left on your wrist? Yes? Great—because on Tuesday Azumio and Salutron launched their newest piece of fit-tech hardware, the LifeTrak Move C300. In addition to the activity tracker, the companies have also announced seamless integration with an iOS app, Argus, to provide the “industry’s most accurate activity tracker.”
Salutron says the $60 LifeTrak can record ECG-accurate heart rate measurements, and also monitors your steps, distance covered and sleep patterns. Add in tracking for food intake, hydration, caffeine consumption, and weight, and the wristband provides a comprehensive view of your personal wellness statistics. Or at least that's the sales pitch.
The Argus app, meanwhile, takes all the data the LifeTrak collects (and that you input) and rolls it up into a single view with context, so you can make action items based on the information gathered.
The LifeTrak activity tracker is waterproof and powered by a single, replaceable coin-cell battery, which is rated to be good for a year's worth of use. The Argus app connects to iOS via Bluetooth LE, and the whole system has an open API that allows for integration with other popular apps. In fact, the free app can also be used with other apps and devices such as MapMyFitness and the Withings scale. It can even be used entirely on its own, but won’t collect the full array of data that you would get with the LifeTrak device (unless you bring your smartphone along, in which case it can track all the same features).
The Argus app collects your data and displays it in an attractive honeycomb-style interface that displays all your activity, calories, and physical measurements on a single screen. Currently, the app is only available for iOS devices, but we’re told the company plans to launch an Android version in the near future.
So, it the LifeTrak the last activity monitor you’ll ever need? We’re not sure yet, as we’re still testing it,but check back later for a full review.
