Shrinking sensors boost wearable tech market

Wearable tech is still in its infancy, but smartwatches and other such gadgetry got a big push at CE Week in New York this week. In this video report, we’ll look at everything from wired-in watches to a dress that can react to sound.

Of special note, WearIt showed off a prototype watch set to officially launch at CES 2014 in Las Vegas. Wear It bills it as a standalone watch powered by Android 4.0 and featuring Wi-Fi connectivity, so that you’re not tethered to another device to get information.

Another watch featured in this report comes from Basis; the watch is already available for $199.

It includes heart rate and temperature sensors for measuring heart rate, calories burned, and steps taken. The watch has a companion smartphone app to track progress.
