Brave Robotics to roll out working mini Transformers, lasers not included
Remote control? Check. Capacity for firing harmless-but-still-entertaining missiles at unsuspecting people? Check. Ability to transform from a bipedal robot into an automobile and back? Check, check, and double-check.
Holy cow, we don't really have to tell you why this 3D-printed marvel from Brave Robotics is overwhelmingly rad, right? As spotted by Wired, this 1/12 scale Autobot Transformer, which will be on display at Maker Faire Tokyo sometime next week, pretty much comes with everything except the All-Spark itself.
According to the supplier's website, customers will receive the robot, a carrying case, a wireless controller, and the right to determine the color of their precious robot. Google Translate isn't terribly clear about this, but it seems as though the robot will ship with "motion-editing" software as well? Maybe. We're not entirely sure what that means—maybe it's a tool to let you re-program how the bot moves.
Either way, this is still one of the best Christmas gifts any geek could potentially receive.
The pricing for Brave Robotics' upcoming delight is still strictly on a "need to know" basis. That said, if you were hoping to sit around and wait for a price drop, I'm going to have to warn you that production is limited to 10 units only. Why? I don't know.
