Our Favorite Geeky Lego Creations

It's no secret that we bloggers here at GeekTech are massive Lego fans. In the past we've looked at a whole host of geeky Lego achievements, including a Lego printer, a rather blocky iPad and a Lego-made robot which will solve your Sudoku puzzles. But what else is out there in the wider world of Lego? Lets take a look:

Lego Mindstorms Wall-E

Many have tried to build Wall-E out of Lego bricks, but none have ever come as close to recreating the real thing as this recent effort. Taking more than 250 hours of research and development, this Lego version of Pixar's robotic creation can go from his normal state and transform down to his boxed form. Check out the video below to see the impressive Lego bot in action:

Lego Architecture

Ever wanted to see your favorite landmarks re-created in Lego? Sure, you could head to one of the world's four Legoland parks, but if you want to see some cool Lego, minus the typical theme park queues then you could check out a couple recently opened exhibitions.

Created by Adam Reed Tucker, the Lego Architecture: Towering Ambition exhibition showcases several of the worlds most famous landmarks. The work on show includes The White House, the Empire State Building and more. The Washington DC based exhibition is on from now until September 2011.

If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area, be sure to check out the BayLUG 2010 Brick Show in San Leandro, California. This show features 800 square feet of hobbyist-built Lego creations including trains and city scenes. But hurry: The exhibit runs only through July 25.

Stop-motion Love

Stop-motion and Lego go hand-in0hand, as any search on YouTube will prove. This particular video, showcasing a variety of old arcade games through the medium of Lego bricks, stood out to the gamer in me:

Bricked Gamer

Sticking with the gaming theme is this casemod of a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), created entirely from red Lego bricks. It's a mashup of two great childhood favorites:

Camera Focus

Here's a really simple use of Lego that works effectively: Get your DSLR camera into focus with this easy to create DIY focus handle:

We would love to see your favorite uses of Lego. Have you built something cool, or spotted a really smart use of Lego? Let us know in the comments, and share the Lego love!
