Nyan Cat flies into a store near you (and other things we didn’t cover)
It’s Monday afternoon, which means it’s time for your daily GeekBytes roundup. Today, we have for you a Halloween mirror hack, the official Nyan Cat stuffed toy, and a Tic-Tac-Toe game made with logic boards.
Ok, Halloween may be well behind us now, but this one little hack we couldn’t ignore. Al Hinke’s Haunted Mirror creates a pixelated rendition of a ghost or pumpkin (for instance) in the mirror every time you step in front of it. It’s controlled using an IOIO board, various sensors, and an RGB matrix display, and you can connect it to your Android phone for more fun. [via Hacked Gadgets]
The death of Marty, the real cat behind Nyan Cat, sent the world of Internet memes into mourning. However, there is a small piece of good news: Toy ‘R Us finally has Nyan Cat plushies in stock! There are three variants of the Pop Tart cat available: the original Nyan Cat, Valentnyan Cat, and Jazz Cat (Warning: Those links go to pages that play audio). Me? I plan on checking my local store tomorrow...and the day after that...and the day after that...or at least until someone tells me what day restock day is, so I only have to check once a week.
The Circuitchef blog uploaded a video that shows how to play Tic-Tac-Toe using logic boards—30 of them. The case looks a little rough, which isn’t too surprising considering the ridiculous amount of wiring required to control the project. [via Hack A Day]
