Ignore that email -- Nook HD shipping as expected

Halloween may have been two days ago, but some people who pre-ordered a Nook HD or HD+ got a bit of a fright in their mailboxes on Friday. Barnes & Noble sent some customers emails erroneously informing them that their tablets wouldn’t arrive until December 1.

That would be quite a delay. Both the 7-inch Nook HD and the 9-inch Nook HD+ went on sale earlier this week. Some customers have even started getting their hands on the updated tablets.

Looking for a culprit for Friday’s false shipping delay scare? Put the blame on Hurricane Sandy, Barnes & Noble says. “This incorrect email was sent in error due to technical issues resulting from Hurricane Sandy, and customers are being notified accordingly,” the company said in a follow-up email to the earlier gaffe.

If you received notification of a Nook shipping delay—and if your blood pressure has returned to normal—look for Barnes & Noble to send up a follow-up note to your inbox explaining the mistake.
