Wear your own DIY Metroid helmet this Halloween
Ladies, it's official. You don't have to settle for garden-variety, store-bought and potentially unflattering costumes anymore. I mean, seriously, why dress up as a generic French Maid when you can paint the town red as the unimitable Samus Aran? I certainly know which one I'd pick.
According to Ryan Fitzpatrick, who also makes props and costumes for the YouTube group MikeNGary, the idea for this Metroid-inspired costume surfaced sometime in the summer of 2007. Unfortunately, the idea didn't quite achieve fruition till almost five years later—which is where we are at now.
In his guide, Ryan explains that two major factors dictated his construction techniques: budget and deadlines—something that may come as a relief if you're concerned that this might cost a fortune to construct. While Ryan doesn't provide an estimated cost for this DIY beauty was provided, the fact he succeeded in creating something so awesome with a low-quality, $10 motorcycle helmet says a lot about things.
Personally, I'm totally game for this. What about you?
