If you want to get Samsung's hot flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III, but you don't want to be tied to a two-year contract, MetroPCS has a deal for you.

When you buy the Samsung handset at full price, $499, you can use it on MetroPCS's 4G LTE network with one of the company's pay-as-you-go plans, which range from $30 to $70 monthly.

The offer includes the wireless carrier's 4G LTE limited time promotional plans for $30 a month and its unlimited talk, text, and 4G LTE data offering for $55 a month. That price includes taxes and regulatory fees.

Based on the $55 plan, MetroPCS estimates that a smartphone user will save $1200 or more over a comparable two-year contract plan offered by the major carriers.

Offering top shelf smart phones has been a trend in the prepaid wireless industry in recent months. In May, Cricket Wireless began offering the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S on its prepaid network. Virgin Mobile, which uses Sprint's national network, followed suit in June.

MetroPCS doesn't offer the iPhone in its product mix. However, that could change if its proposed merger with T-Mobile becomes a reality. Together the carriers could put together a network that supports Apple's latest iPhone model.

Samsung's Galaxy S III is loaded with top-of-the-line features. It has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and comes with 2GB of memory. Also in the feature mix are a 4.8-inch, 720p HD SuperAMOLED display; 8-megapixel back- and 1.9-megapixel front-facing cameras; sharing of pictures, maps, contacts, appointments and more by simply touching two Galaxy S IIIs together; picture-in-picture video and Near Field Communication (NFC) support.

In addition, the smartphone supports MetroPCS's 4G LTE mobile hotspot service, which is available for an additional monthly charge.
