Create cardboard cutout figures with Foldable.me
Today I discovered something amazing: Foldable.me. From the same people who brought us Olly the smelly robot and these cool Instagram magnets comes the best thing since custom South Park characters: custom foldable characters made out of cardboard.
Noticed by The Next Web back when it was only a Kickstarter project, Foldable.me is now a reality, and it lets you order a papercraft version of yourself, your friends, or just about anyone for only $12 (shipping is free). The Foldables arrive on a flat sheet of paper in a regular envelope, so you get to enjoy cutting and folding your new buddy.
Ready to create one of your own? It's actually really easy: Head over to Foldable.me and click on "Create Yours." You can then use the intuitive interface to choose your Foldable's hairstyle, clothes, facial features, and so on. The toughest decision you need to make is if your Foldable is a boy or a girl; it gets easier from there.
Granted, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't create something that really looked like me. You're welcome to look at the screenshot and compare it with my bio photo, and tell me if you see a resemblance. If creating a cardboard model of yourself seems a bit creepy, why not create one of your friends? This way you can carry them around wherever you go, without ever having to part. If you insist, you can also create a Foldable that resembles no one you know, just for fun.
Foldables can also make pretty original gifts. You can add a message to your Foldable before you purchase it, and just send it over to your friend's house. It's bound to be the most original thing they've received all year.
