Researchers Work to Create Secure RFID Tags

With RFID tags being embedded in everyday items like passports, credit cards and transit passes, security has become a concern with this "always-on" technology. A University of Calgary research is working with Microsoft Research UK on controlling these tags by giving users the ability to turn them on or off, by letting people know when their information has been accessed by vibrations or sounds and by other means.
