Deals of the Week

This week we found some impressive deals, including a striking Samsung Luxia HDTV and Sony's Reader Touch Edition.

Flip Video MinoHD Pocket Camcorder, $119

If you're looking to be the next YouTube star, check out the 4GB Flip Video MinoHD pocket camcorder (first generation). Usually priced around $170, it's on sale at Amazon for $119. Just head over to the checkout to see your instant savings.

The original MinoHD offers excellent low-light video performance and shoots 720p high-definition video, making it a great portable camcorder for on-the-go video shooting. If you're willing to go a little higher in price, the sexier second-generation model (which doubles the capacity to 8GB) is also available at Amazon, for $188 (normally $230).

HP TouchSmart 600, $1050

You can get the HP TouchSmart 600 all-in-one desktop PC for $1050 at Office Depot. That's $150 off the usual price; the sale will last through the end of Saturday.

The HP TouchSmart 600 PC boasts an impressive, 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor with support for multitouch gestures, providing an entertaining alternative to the standard mouse. It also has a resolution of 1920 by 1080, making it ideal for watching high-def movies. As for the software, we really like the TouchSmart 600's touch-friendly applications for Hulu, Netflix, and Twitter, as well as the Collage app, which shuffles, resizes, and rotates your photos.

Sony Reader Touch Edition, $250

At the Dell site, you can find Sony's impressive, 6-inch Reader Touch Edition on sale for $250 (the retail price is $300).

Currently reigning at the top of our e-book reader chart and besting the Amazon Kindle, the Reader adds a touchscreen and stylus to its navigation options (also allowing you to take handwritten notes, if you wish).

The Touch Edition includes a dictionary and provides a worthy MP3 player, too. Better yet, you aren't stuck with a proprietary format, since Sony now supports the open ePub format. Looks like it may be time for Amazon to worry.

Samsung Luxia 40-Inch HDTV, $999

Use coupon code UN40B6000 at Beach Camera to drop the price of the Samsung Luxia 40-inch LED high-definition TV by $200. The discount brings this slim (a mere 1.2 inches deep) TV set from a typical retail price of around $1200 down to just under $1000. Unveiled at CES last year, Samsung's Luxia line stands out for its focus on streamlined design and energy efficiency.

Nikon 18mm-55mm AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens, $99

If you're looking to get the most out of your DSLR camera, having a variety of lenses is a good place to start. J&R has a refurbished Nikon 18mm-55mm AF-S DX VR Nikkor zoom lens on sale for $99--a whopping $220 cheaper than if you were to buy the lens brand-new.

This Nikkor zoom lens is designed to work with any Nikon DSLR camera body and is ideal for landscape and general photography. It has a 3X zoom, from 18mm wide angle to 55mm normal perspective, and it features Vibration Reduction technology to improve your shots.
