Make Your Laptop MagSafe With DIY Mod

The power cable alteration, which comes courtesy of a modder going by the handle "Freeload", is relatively easy to complete, simple to remove and shouldn't harm your laptop or power adapter.
His modification takes a normal laptop power connection and transforms it in to something similar to Apple's patented MagSafe adapter. Apple's MagSafe, which was introduced back in 2006, is a power connection which is held in place magnetically. If pulled, the power cable simply pops-out, instead of dragging the would-be attached laptop with it.
The "MagSafe For The Rest Of Us" modification takes just eight steps and around $30 worth of materials to complete. To get started, you will need a few basic tools and materials, the full list of which can be found over on Instructables.
