SLIDESHOW

Deals of the Week

This week: Lenovo offers a 20% discount, the HP DreamScreen goes on sale, and you can get a 52" HDTV for under $1000

Insignia NS-LCD52HD-09 52-Inch HDTV for $1000

Best Buy has the Insignia 52-Inch NS-LCD52HD-09 HDTV on sale for $1000, $600 off the original price (and $400 off our review unit's price), plus free shipping. This 52-inch Insignia is not the greatest HDTV we've ever seen, but it's also not the worst. It supports full 1080p resolution, has a 1500:1 contrast ratio, and features three HDMI input ports. Our lab tests found both the image and sound quality lacking, but our reviewer raved that the remote is "almost perfect." All in all, this HDTV has always been a great deal for the price--and now it's even better.

Lenovo Laptops, 20 Percent Off

Through December 13, Lenovo is offering 20 percent off the price of ThinkPad and IdeaPad laptops, and 15 percent off the cost of IdeaCenter desktops--all with free shipping--when you enter coupon code USPHOLIDAY. We suggest that you take a look at the slender Lenovo ThinkPad T400s, which now comes with a touchscreen option, or the attractive IdeaPad Y450.

Free HTC Droid Eris (With a New Two-Year Contract)

Letstalk.com is offering the HTC Droid Eris for free (with free shipping), after the free activation of a two-year contract with Verizon. In addition to a bright, sharp-looking display that supports 262,000 colors, the HTC Droid Eris has a 5.0-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, and the Android 1.5 OS. It normally retails for $100, and is said to be getting an Android 2.0 update in the near future, so this is not a bad deal if you're looking for a Droid.

HP DreamScreen 100 for $180

HP.com is offering the HP DreamScreen 100 for $180 when you enter coupon code SVMY478761. This incredibly easy-to-use digital photo frame and media device features wireless support for popular applications (Facebook, Snapfish, Pandora), an attractive and highly readable interface, 2GB of internal memory, and impressive and crisp colors. Our only real complaints included the fact that it isn't a touchscreen device (though it looks like it should be one), and that it must always stay plugged in (even though it's wireless).

Nintendo Wii Plus a $50 Wal-Mart Gift Card, for $199

Through December 12, in-store only, Wal-Mart is offering a $50 Wal-Mart gift card with the $199 purchase of a Nintendo Wii system. If you routinely shop at Wal-Mart, that's basically a Nintendo Wii for $149--a price that rivals what we saw during this year's Black Friday sales. This video game console is known for its innovative motion controller, built-in wireless, ability to download games from past consoles (such as Nintendo 64 and Super NES), and SD Card reader. Its graphics are not as good as the Xbox 360's or the PlayStation 3's, and it cannot play CDs or DVDs, but it is a fun console for the casual gamer.
