Photos and a video have surfaced that give more weight to speculation that the next edition of the iPod Touch will be toting a camera capable of shooting photos and video.
The photos (courtesy of Maxim Radio's Covino and Rich) show an iPod-sized device with brushed metal backing, a camera centered at the top, and a red motherboard (typical of prototype Apple devices.)
Typical of most Apple releases, rumors have been circulating recently. Last month sources told Wired
the iPod Touch might also feature a built-in microphone.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an iPod update.
I'm cheap and therefore not a fan of data charges for the iPhone, but a photo/video-shooting, VoIP-supporting iPod would do me just fine. (Where isn't there Wi-Fi these days, anyway?)
I don't think I'm alone, which could make things interesting for Microsoft.
If this new iPod Touch shows up at Apple's September Keynote it could mean ouch time for the Zune HD which will be released a week later.
Maybe it's time to start working on a "Portable Music Player Hunter" commercial series marketing team!
