iDive Improves Image Capture and Import

Aquafadas has released iDive 1.8, a new version of its digital video cataloging software for Mac OS X. A free update for 1.5 customers, iDive costs $69.95.

iDive can help videographers and amateur camera jockeys with a "digital shoebox" to store clips and still images. It features customizable views, drag and drop attribute tagging and a timeline display. It's designed to complement DV editing applications like iMovie and Final Cut Pro.

New to the 1.8 release is a new capture model for video footage. Users can now choose how they want videos stored on disk - either as high quality footage or as on-the-fly compressed videos. Pre-roll support has been added, too.

Organizational improvements have been made, tape groups have been added, new maintenance tools have been introduced to help diagnose and repair corrupted libraries, iMovie project handling has been improved and more.

iDive 1.8 requires Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later and QuickTime 7. It's a Universal binary.
